Future construction will focus on existing buildings. Architects can thus make a significant contribution to the climate transition. A comprehensive knowledge of our material building heritage is a prerequisite for the building turnaround. The Institute of Architectural History imparts this fundamental knowledge.

The Institute teaches the basics of building research and practical documentation using contemporary methods - from archive research to the use of point clouds. Architectural history issues are dealt with in academic seminars. These can be deepened in scientific project work and practical designs for dealing with the inventory.
